We could have done with far fewer clouds this weekend, but my Sunday morning was brightened a bit by a couple of pieces in the Times’ Sunday Review section that fit perfectly what we’ve been discussing in class.
In Journalism, our focus has been on truth, justice and the American Way, so to speak. On its website, the Times has a blog called Draft, which is written by writers telling the stories of their writing. On Sundays, you’ll find in print at least one column harvested from that blog, and this weekend, Brad Parks addressed how his training in truth causes him some problems as a novelist.
In sophomore English, we talked on Friday about the way your choices of speaker and audience tell you how to approach your content in terms of language and details. Teddy Wayne’s advice on how to explain twerking to your parents provides a model application of that lesson.
Enjoy your reading. I’ll post a This (short) Week later today for everyone.
